Davide Formisano è nato a Milano nel 1974. Lì ha terminato i suoi studi con C. Tabarelli con il massimo dei voti e delle onorificenze, quindi ha completato le sue tecniche con Bruno Cavallo, Jean-Claude Gérard presso l'Università di musica e arti dello spettacolo di Stoccarda e con Aurèle Nicolet a Basilea. Da adolescente ha ricevuto il primo premio al "Concorso Galileo Galilei" e al "Concorso internazionale Stresa". All'età di soli diciassette anni partecipò al "Jean Pierre Rampal Competition" a Parigi, dove gli fu assegnato il "Prix Spécial du Jury". Nel giro di pochi anni è stato premiato nelle seguenti competizioni internazionali: "Kobe International Flute Competition", 1 ° premio "Budapest Flute Competition" e 2 ° premio (se il primo non è stato assegnato) "ARD Competition Munich". Nel 1995, all'età di soli 21 anni, Davide Formisano ha assunto la posizione di flautista solista della Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra. Solo un anno dopo era nella stessa posizione con la Radio Philharmonic Orchestra olandese. Dal 1997 al 2012 è stato flautista solista per l'Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala e l'Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala. At just seventeen, he took part in the "Jean Pierre Rampal Concourse" in Paris, gaining the "Prix Special du Jury". During the next few years he won a prize at Kobe International Flute Competition, 1st prize at the Budapest Flute Competition and 2nd prize (1st not assigned) at the outstanding ARD Concourse in Munich. In 1995 he obtained the solo flute role at the Hamburg Philharmonisches Staatsorchester, getting the same position in the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra one year later. From 1997 until 2012 he was principal flute in the "Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala" and in the same Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist he performed with serveal orchestras such as Bayerischer Rundfunk, Rundfunkorchester Basel, Tonhalle Ensemble Zurich or Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala with conductors as Riccardo Muti and Daniel Barenboim. In 2004, he featured as a soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of The Scala during a world tour. His teaching activity is growing day by day: after several courses in Japan and Italy Davide Formisano is holding courses at Academie d'Eté in Nice and several masterclasses in Japan. Innerhalb der nächsten Jahre wurde er Preisträger bei folgenden internationalen Wettbewerben: "Kobe International Flute Competition", 1. Preis "Budapest Flute Competition" und 2. Preis (bei Nichtvergabe eines ersten) "ARD Wettbewerb München". 1995, mit nur 21 Jahren, trat Davide Formisano die Stelle des Soloflötisten des Philharmonischen Staatsorchesters Hamburg an. Nur ein Jahr später befand er sich auf derselben Position beim Niederländischen Radiophilharmonie Orchester. Von 1997 bis 2012 war er Soloflötist des Theaterorchesters der Mailänder Scala, wie auch des Philharmonischen Orchesters der Scala.  Als Solist konzertierte er mit Orchestern wie dem Bayerischen Rundfunk, Rundfunkorchester Basel, Tonhalle Ensemble Zürich oder dem Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala unter Dirigenten wie Riccardo Muti und Daniel Barenboim. Zu seinen Kammermusikpartnern gehören Riccardo Muti, Daniel Barenboim, James Galway, Philipp Moll, Bruno Canino, Sergio Azzolini, Radovan Vlatkovic und Fabio Biondi.  Unter anderem tritt er auf folgenden Festivals regelmäßig auf: Luzern Festival, Festival der Nationen, Rheingau Musikfestival, Rossini Opera Festival, Nuits musicales d‘été de Nice, Budapest Spring Festival, International Fuji Festival und Yamanami Music Festival.
